4 Ways To Protect Your Skin This Summer

As you hit the road and head for the beach this spring and summer, don't forget that while being tan is great your skin still needs to be protected! Often we remember to take care of our bodies during the summer but our faces get neglected. Just as much as Vitamin D is great for your skin, so are other protective elements as well. Here is our list of things to do this summer to keep your skin youthful and glowing!

1. Sunscreen, Sunscreen, and More Sunscreen

Can you tell we are sunscreen advocates? The ultraviolet (UV) rays of the sun are what damage skin. Whether it’s sunny or cloudy outside, it’s important to protect your skin from these UV rays. Make sure the label says "broad spectrum," which means it helps protect against both UVA and UVB rays. Stick to an SPF of 30 or higher for the most protection.

2. Wear Hats

Whether it's a floppy hat by the pool or a baseball cap while running errands, hats can do a lot to protect your skin. Wearing a hat with at least a 2-inch or 3-inch brim keeps the sun off your face, and it shades your eyes, too.

3. Wear Sunglasses

Our eyes are so sensitive and so is the skin that surrounds them. Paying a little bit more for a pair that blocks UV rays may seem unnecessary, but in reality, provides real benefit to your skin. Sunglasses with oversized frames are best at protecting the skin around the eyes.

4. Check The UV Ray Index

When you know you'll be going out make sure to check the UV ray index to know how much your skin is being exposed. Often between 10 am and 4 pm is when the sun’s rays are the strongest. This will help you prepare properly while being outside.

5. Schedule Your Facial with Glow Balance Med Spa

Facials and peels are ideal treatments for sun damage, texture roughness, dehydration, exfoliation, acne, poor skin tone, enlarged pores, and much more. Things you can't just do with your normal skincare routine. To find a facial that works best for you, click here to see what we offer!
